An African Odyssey

An exclusive, leisurely, 16 day escorted tour created for an independent lady travelling alone.

Day 1 Departing London Heathrow to Johannesburg.

Day 2 Met upon arrival and privately transferred to the Grace Hotel in Rosebank. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the Grace - dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 3 Morning at leisure. Afternoon, a private half-day tour of Pretoria, South Africa’s administrative Capital. Overnight at the Grace - dinner, bed and breakfast.

Day 4 Scenic drive from Johannesburg through to Blue Mountain Lodge, set in the lush surroundings of avocado plantations and forests of Kiepersol in Mpumalanga, ''where the sun rises’.

Lunch will be enjoyed en-route. Arriving late afternoon.
Overnight at Blue Mountain Lodge – Dinner bed and breakfast.

Day 5 Morning at leisure. In the afternoon you will be taken on a private tour of Shangana, a fascinating cultural village.

Overnight at Blue Mountain Lodge – Dinner, bed and breakfast

Day 6 Full day tour of spectacular scenic wonders including the breathtaking Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window and Bourkes Luck Potholes on the way to the historic old gold-rush town of Pilgrims Rest.

Stopping en-route for a delicious picnic. Overnight at Blue Mountain Lodge – Dinner, bed and breakfast

Day 7 Private transfer to the luxurious Kings Camp in the Timbavati Game Reserve, part of the greater Kruger National Park, which covers 2.2 million hectares. An unique opportunity to experience the bushveld in true colonial style. Excellent game viewing in open 4x4 vehicles. Kings Camp - lunch, dinner and game-viewing activities.

DAY 8 Full day of leisurely game-viewing and relaxation. Kings Camp - Breakfast, lunch and dinner


Day 9
After an early morning game drive if desired, you will be transferred to the local airport for the direct flight to Cape Town where you will be met and transferred to the impressive Table Bay Hotel in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront complex. Overnight at the Table Bay Hotel - bed and breakfast

 

Day 10 From Cape Town take a gentle drive up the West Coast to the Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve. Unadulterated luxury amid spectacular scenery. Bushmans Kloof - tea, sundowner drive and dinner

Day 11 Full day in and around reserve exploring Bushman rock art sites or just unwinding in the pleasurable surroundings. Bushmans Kloof - brunch, tea and dinner

Day 12 After a relaxed brunch depart for scenic drive around coastal region, arriving at the traditional Bartholomeus Klip; an elegantly restored historic wheat and sheep farm, with stunning views, charming accommodation and exquisite food. Bartholomeus Klip - dinner, bed and breakfast (Alternatively 3 nights can be spent at Bushman’s Kloof).


Day 13
A whole day in which to relax and enjoy the superb amenities and environment. Bartholomeus Klip - breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 14 Leave after breakfast to visit the historic restored Cape Dutch town of Tulbagh, where we will have a light lunch before driving on down to Cape Town. Overnight at the Table Bay Hotel - bed and breakfast

Day 15 Day open for accompanied shopping or other activities. Overnight at the Table Bay Hotel - bed and breakfast.

Day 16 Day at leisure - with perhaps a visit to the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. En-route to Cape Town International Airport for your evening flight, enjoy a full afternoon tea at the old colonial Mount Nelson hotel.
