Cape to Cairo

Day 1 - Upon arrival in Johannesburg you would be met and transferred to the Victoria Falls flight check-in. The flight leaves at around lunchtime and arrives at Victoria Falls mid afternoon.
You will be met at the airport and transferred to the Victoria Falls Hotel, one of the world's most delightful old colonial hotels, part of Cecil Rhodes' dream of opening a Cape to Cairo route.
An appropriate place to start your trip.

Day 2 - Take an early morning accompanied walk around the Falls.
There are various local optional extras including a helicopter flight over the Falls - very spectacular. (If going into Botswana) enjoy a lunchtime cruise along the Zambezi.

Day 3 - After breakfast you will be driven to Chobe Game Lodge in Botswana in time for lunch. After check-in you will assisted by the activities manager to choose what you would like to do during your stay - land and river game-viewing activities. The waterborne trips are superb. Botswana has some of the finest game viewing in the world with large herds of elephant, buffalo etc.

Day 4 - Full days game-viewing activities. These are all part of a total accommodation package.

Day 5 - You will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport for the return trip to Johannesburg (1.5 hours). Upon arrival you will again be met and taken to the domestic terminal for your 2-hour flight to Cape Town.
Here again you will be met and taken to your hotel by your escort for the Cape section.

Days 6/7/8
- In and around the Cape Peninsula.

Day 9 (or the previous evening) - Fly up to Johannesburg staying near the airport before leaving on the Air Kenya flight to Nairobi (4 hours + flying time). You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel and briefed about other timings. You will be escorted throughout your stay.
Overnight in Nairobi - probably the Norfolk hotel or Serena Lodge

Days 10/11
- Transferred to Amboseli National Park for 2 nights - game viewing activities

Days 12 /13
- Back to Nairobi and across to the magnificent Maasai Mara for minimum of two nights (3 nights ideally) in a luxurious tented camp before returning to Nairobi

Day 14
- Overnight in Nairobi

Day 15
-Transferred to airport for flight to Cairo (5 hours+-) Cairo staying overnight (Nile or Ramses Hilton).
In Egypt you will have a local operator (appointed by us) looking after your requirements and arranging for a local guide where necessary as this will add an extra dimension to your trip.
In the afternoon I would recommend visiting the remarkable Egyptian Museum - as this sets the scene for the rest of the visit.

Day 16
- Fly up to Luxor to join Nile cruise for 4 nights. Prepare to be amazed by the awesome Temple at Karnak. In the evening visit the dramatically floodlit Temple at Luxor. Other temple visits include the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Horus, Kom Ombo etc. Four nights are ideal: providing sufficient time to take in various excursions en-route whilst sailing up the Nile to the City of Aswan. There is also a side trip to Abu-Simbel, the Temple built by Ramesis II and which was moved when the Lake Nasser dam was created.

Days 20 - Before leaving Aswan, if time permits, visit the beautiful island Temple of Philae. Fly back to Cairo.

Day 21 - Day trip to Memphis the old Egyptian Capital including a stop at Saqqara - the first stepped Pyramid and Giza for the Sphinx and the main Pyramids.

Day 22 - Spend the day shopping and sightseeing in and around the bustling city of Cairo - before an after dinner transfer out to the Airport.
