CAPE SPLENDOURS A family journey through the Eastern Cape and along the Garden Route. Day 1 Arrive in Port Elizabeth where you will be met at the airport at 15:30 by Dinah and transferred to the charming Carslogie Guest House situated around the corner from the beach in Port Elizabeth. Overnight at the Carslogie Guest House B&B (Dinner booked at the Blue Waters Café on the beach 19:30hrs own account). Day 2 Depart after breakfast for the Addo Elephant Park. Morning Drive, lunch (own account) in the Park. Overnight at the Zuurberg Mountain Inn DB&B. Day 3 Riding for the younger members - depending upon experience either 3 or 5 hours in the Mountains or in the Addo Elephant Park accompanied by an experienced guide. To be booked upon arrival, own account. Local activities. Overnight at the Zuurberg Mountain Inn DB&B. Day 4 Drive to Kenton-on-Sea on the 'Sunshine Coast'. Light lunch (included) upon arrival at Lime Tree Guest House. 14:00 hrs take a short drive to Bushman's River for a Cruise and to visit a small, private Game Lodge. Dinner on the floating Sandbar Restaurant (booked - not included). Overnight at the Lime Tree Guest House BL&B & cruise. Day 5 Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a walk along the beach. Lunch not included. Short drive to the Kariega Private Game Reserve. Afternoon game drive. Dinner in restaurant. Kariega Game Reserve includes Acc. game drive & dinner. Day 6 Morning walking and game viewing. Afternoon Bushmans River cruise and game drive. Dinner in exclusive Nkosi Lodge Kariega game Reserve includes cruise & dinner. Day 7 Drive to Plettenberg Bay via Storms River Mouth - the start of the Garden Route. Visit the Tsitsikamma National Park, walk to the suspension bridge. Enjoy light lunch in Park. Option in afternoon to take trip to see Dolphins.Overnight at Strombolis Country Inn B&B and Park fees. Day 8 Short drive to Knysna for Featherbed Nature Reserve trip. Short cruise across the Lagoon followed by a lovely walk and delicious fish barbeque. Afternoon free to explore Knysna Waterfront. Dinner possibly at the Knysna Oyster company - own account. Overnight at the Knysna Log-Inn B&B Includes Featherbed tour and lunch. Day 9 Take the scenic Outeniqua Choo Tjoe train to George, (not incl.) At George you will be collected and taken for lunch (extra) in Outdshoorn before going to the Cango Wild Life Ranch for a tour. Overnight at Oude Meul Country Lodge DB&B Ranch incl. Day 10 A tour of the Cango Caves, a collection of the worlds most dramatic stalactites and stalagmites. Afterwards drive to the Safari Ostrich Farm for lunch followed by a tour of the Farm. Overnight Eight Bells Mountain Inn DB&B. Cango Caves and Safari tour & lunch included. Day 11 Morning ride if weather permits. Mossel Bay for lunch followed by a visit to the Diaz complex with the caravel in which he discovered Africa. Drive to McGregor via Swellendam in Robertson region. Overnight at Green Gables Country House DB&B. Day 12 After breakfast drive to Worcester to visit a living open air country Museum. Have lunch (not included)before continuing to Cape Town. Overnight - Breakwater Lodge V&A Waterfront B&B. Days 13/16 Cape Town. While staying in Cape Town we will make a tour of the Peninsula including the Penguins. Enjoy walking from Cape Point across to Cape of Good Hope. Other options to be discussed. Maybe lunch or a picnic at the Spier Wine Estate, including a visit to the Cheetahs - depending upon the weather. 3 nights at the Holiday Inn at the Waterfront B&B.
