Zulu-Natal Highlights
Two week guided and self-drive tour of battlefields, nature reserves
and the Big 5. (Outline itinerary)
Day
1 Arrive Johannesburg International airport in the morning.
Clients will be met by a company representative and escorted to
the domestic departures terminal for their transfer flight to Durban.
Arriving In Durban, clients will be welcomed by their driver /guide
who will transfer them from Durban to an exquisite guest lodge near
Durban.
Overnight: Fig Tree Lodge.
Day 2 Leave Durban after breakfast and travel via the Natal
Midlands to Cayley Country Lodge at the foothills of the spectacular
Drakensberg Mountain range. Various places of interest will be visited
en-route.
Overnight: Cayley Country Lodge.
Day
3 Drive to Spioenkop for a lecture on this famous battle, as
well as walking the battlefield and visiting the excellent museum.
After lunch, visits to other interesting military historical places
in and around Escourt and Winterton.
Overnight: Cayley Country Lodge.
Day 4 Travel via Ladysmith to Dundee. Visit
Talana Museum. Continue drive to Babanango Valley Lodge. Overnight:
Babanango Valley Lodge.
Day 5 Lectures and visits to the famous battlefield
sites of the Anglo Zulu War, Isandlwana, Fugitive's Drift and Rorkes
Drift. Lunch at Isandlwana Lodge. Late afternoon return to Babanango
Valley Lodge.
Overnight: Babanango Valley Lodge.
Day 6 Mid-morning, leave Babanango Valley Lodge
and travel via the Valley of the Kings to Shakaland. In the early
evening, extensive Zulu cultural show.
Overnight: Shakaland.

Day 7 After breakfast, drive to Richards Bay where clients will
pick up their pre-booked hire car at the airport in Richards Bay.
Clients will drive an easy route to Mkuze Falls game reserve, which
is in the Pongola area.
Overnight: Mkuze Falls game reserve.
Day 8 The whole day is spent at Mkuze Falls game reserve.
Overnight: Mkuze Falls game reserve.
Day 9 After their early morning game drive,
clients leave Mkuze Falls game reserve and travel south towards
Lake St. Lucia. Clients will overnight at Nibela Lake Lodge on the
shores of Lake St. Lucia.
Overnight: Nibela Lake Lodge.
Day
10 The whole day is spent in the surroundings of Lake St. Lucia
with boat trips and excursions around this World Heritage Site.
Overnight: Nibela Lake Lodge.
Day 11 From Nibela Lake Lodge, clients
will drive to Umhlanga Rocks, a small holiday resort outside Durban.
The Oyster Box is a beautiful old colonial hotel, right on the shores
of the Indian Ocean.
Overnight: The Oyster Box.
Day 12 After breakfast, clients will drive themselves to
Durban International airport, returning their hired car at the depot
and taking their connecting flight to Cape Town.
